Helena Hoayun is a Guyanese American author of Indian and Chinese descent. She writes fantasy and science fiction for children, teens, and adults. Her books often take on a darker edge, but they are always rounded out with a splash of humor or romance.

Born in New York, she moved to hot and sunny Florida, where she frequently dreams of snow-capped mountains and the shadows that lurk amongst them. Despite living only ten minutes from the beach, Helena spends most of her time indoors creating art or music, binge-playing too many video games, and catching up on all things nerdy.
